My assignment was in negotiations and translating. I traveled a lot and I represented the command at dinners with heads of state and dignitaries, at international sporting events with some of the greatest athletes of that era and some pretty high-class celebrities on Bob Hope’s USO Celebrity Tours.

But that did not translate into instant success when I moved to Las Vegas.  I took odds and end jobs at first.  I was turned away many times and finally took work as a secretary and started a small janitorial business. 

I felt worthless.  Once I had the touch to sparkle in social settings but now I felt like an outcast, just like a veteran kicked to the curb.  I was basically unemployable.  That left me emotionally drained and depressed. 

It wasn’t until I started to imagine differently that things started to get better for me.  I realized I had to stop seeing the move as an end - and start seeing it as a new beginning and put my know-how to work, in a different way.  

My pulse again began to quicken at the idea of fact-finding and uncovering inside details.  I was excited about all the discoveries I made and how easily – yes, almost effortlessly I was luring them to me.  I had not lost my touch – that’s when I decided to see The Entertainment Capital as my new assignment – and applied my skills to get ‘behind the scenes’ in Las Vegas.
